MasterChef's Julie Goodwin joins The Weekly

, Prev Next One of the mantras of The Weekly is to provide inspiration and hope to our readers. One person has recently inspired us all – and that is the MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin.

She has captured the hearts of Australia by encouraging people in their droves to rediscover the joys of cooking. Julie was always a winner in our minds. We love her warmth and enthusiasm. We can relate to her being a mum, cooking from the heart and with love for her family.

That's why we are delighted to welcome Julie aboard our fabulous food team and while you can read about her emotional reunion with husband Mick and her three sons in this month’s issue out on Wednesday, we will be officially launching her beautiful home-cooked meals next month.

Julie commented about her new column: "It's a privilege beyond my wildest dreams. The Weekly has always been part of my household growing up and the recipes have featured in my kitchen as well as my mum's and my nan's."

"I can’t wait! ... I love cooking and I love writing, and I’ll be doing a column about my favourite recipe of the month and how it relates to my family."

Hi Julie, CONGRATULATIONS on winning Masterchef! We have all admired your determination and grace under pressure - we were all cheering you on in every challenge! We look forward to reading your recipes in the AWW - I don't usually buy it but was attracted to the latest issue becuase you were in it! Loe, The Le family
I loved watching Julie on masterchef. Julie really has got my passion for cooking reignited. I lost my mum last year, the sadness embodied me and for quite a while lost my passion for cooking. After watching the show each week and feeling lost when it had finished I realised Julie's attitude and love for cooking got me back in the kitchen. I have always been interested in food and love to make tasty healthy interesting food for my family and friends. Thank you Julie - it would be such an honour to meet Julie - I can't wait to see what recipes she will be sharing with us. warmest regards, Denny Craig
Hi Julie, My husband and I were watching Masterchef and want to give you a BIG CONGRATULATIONS on a well deserved win!!!! Well done you winning shows that any one can make there dreams come true.
I just finished reading the article on Julie Goodwin joining women's weekly and am thrilled about it. Our family never missed an episode of masterchef, and were Julie supporters all the way. Julie is clearly an excellent cook with a fierce determination, but what I think sets Julie apart from all the other contestants is that she encapsulates what Australians ,at their heart, hold dearest- family. She has a quick wit, always complementary to the other contestants and is obviously passionate about her family. I am going to look forward to Julies recipies in the women's weekly, I would love to see her own cooking show, with George if possible, I felt they had a very authentic, warm and fun relationship, able to take the 'mickey' out of each other, without being condescending in any way. Well done Julie, can't wait to but the book. Bronwyn Lanyon
Wow, look at Julie now. A mum who loves to cook for her family. I love to cook for my family, but must admit not as good as Julie. It just shows you that Mums can do anything, and that the world is your blanket. I'm going to buy 4 of Julie's Cookbooks as I now want to give my recipes to my daughter and 2 sons, and i want them to start there stories in the Cookbooks. What a great idea Julie, something to hand down to our children and to keep the family tree of cooking going. Sandy Lane

Hi Julie from the first time I saw master chef I turned to my husband and said she will win.Because you have a grace about you ,you say our it is.the food may not be presented like a professional but if your family is like mind it dosen't matter and long as it tasted great and smells great that all they would worry about .I am so please you won because now we get back to basic food good ,wholesome food like Maragert Fulton made that home stlye of food which I grew up on I am one of 6 children and mum always made good home stlye food, soups ,rissoles, baked dinners, home made apples pie etc and I have tried to cook the way she does and I feel that is the way Julie cooks with love ,passion, and her family in mind.Best of luck Julie I know I will one of the first to buy your cook book Sally
Julie was my favourite contestant from the first night of the series, but as the series progressed I started to think to myself 'Well if Julie can get out there and go for her dreams then what's stopping me' I too often use my excess kilos or the fact that I think I'm just a housewife to stop me from pushing my boundries and achieving my goals. Now maybe when I get scared I'll think "what would Julie do"? As Justine said, she (Julie) picks herself up, brushes herself off and gets determined. It's time for me to summon my inner Julie. Thank you WW for bringing this lovely lady on board. She is an inspiration to many and I can't wait for her column.
