Fashion designers go yellow for Daffodil Day

Black is perennially stylish but yellow is the only colour to wear this August — because it could help cure cancer.

Eight of Australian's best fashion designers have donated a yellow garment for Designers for Daffodil Day.

Arthur Galan, Camilla Franks, Jason Grech, Jayson Brunsdon, Manning Cartell, Maurie & Eve, Natasha Gan and Rachel Gilbert have all contributed a specially designed piece to the cause.

The items will be displayed on the cancer council website throughout August and September. Fashion fans can vote for their favourite piece for the chance to win a $1000 Mimco voucher, or make a donation to go into the running to win one of the designer garments.

All proceeds will go to vital cancer research, prevention and support services.

Jason Grech said he and the other designers were thrilled to be involved with Daffodil Day.

"We, like so many others, know someone who has been touched by cancer and we're honoured to be part of an event that brings hope to the community and continues to work endlessly to make a difference," he said.

Cancer Council Australia spokesperson Melissa Cicero said Daffodil Day aims to reduce the impact of cancer in Australia and give hope to the estimated 114,000 Australians who will be diagnosed this year alone.

"We are very excited to have these celebrated Australian designers on board to drive more support for Daffodil Day," she said.

"This year we aim to raise $9.5 million nationally and these inspirational designs can help us achieve this target.

"Each designer has their own personal reason for generously giving their time and talents to support the Cancer Council, so we urge people to get online, view these beautiful Daffodil Day garments and vote for their favourite piece."
