Sleep yourself slimmer

Dozens of studies point to the importance of sleep in maintaining good health in general and warding off depression, heart disease and diabetes, in particular.

It also appears that getting enough sleep is crucial to weight loss. Researchers from Ohio's Case Western Reserve University, studying nearly 70,000 middle-aged women, have found that those who slept only five hours a night were 32 per cent more likely to experience significant weight gain (defined as gaining an extra 16.5 kilograms over the 16-year term of the study) and 15 per cent more likely to become obese, compared to those who slept seven hours a night.

Study authors were unable to find any other factor, such as differences in diet, amount eaten or physical activity, which could account for the result, though they suggest that sleeping less may upset a person's basal metabolic rate (the number of calories you burn while you rest).

marilynsplanforweightloss is in my opinion a scam. go to today tonight and read others opinions. don't waste your money.
Hello...I notice some people cite snoring as a reason they don't get a good night's sleep. I was in that boat too - but now I actually have wonderful sleep and have teamed up with a manufacturer for a very simple device that completely stops my husbands snoring. Please have a look at www.instantlystopsnoring.com I have lots of very relieved happy customers. Best wishes Liz
There's nothing I would like better than to get a decent nights sleep but my husband of three years SNORES! He sounds like a gang of men with chain saws constantly at it. It doesn't matter if I sleep in a separate room.....I can still hear him, even with the TV on, and ear plugs don't work. I can't concentrate, I forget things and I can't function at a normal pace. I'm constantly KNACKERED! There's no hope for me if losing weight is based on sleeping well. Good luck to all those that do but I do think good healthy eating habits and a bit of exercise is also needed.

It's not just LACK of sleep, but also QUALITY of sleep. Many people have 'sleep disordered breathing' (SDB) conditions (such as snoring and sleep apnoea) which they might not even be aware of. SDB conditions disturb sleep rhythms and breathing patterns. This leads to increased blood pressure, reduced blood oxygen levels and retardation of the lipid metabolism. So -- it's often not just a case of 'overweight people snore', but also 'snoring people become overweight'. If you snore, wake unrefreshed or feel sleepy during the day, you should get a diagnostic sleep study (largely covered by Medicare) to see whether you have an underlying SDB condition. Excellent professional treatments (including discreet dental devices) are available if needed. Visit SleepTherapyClinic.com for more information.
Everyone should get a good night's sleep. I don't sleep much either because I lay in bed at night giggling to myself about my discovery. I have the answer to the problem of how to lose weight. search for marilynsplanforweightloss.com.au I'm serious! and until I have my site on Google search engine this is the best I can do to tell people about it. It is a good honest plan. Takes a short time to read it. When you have read it, the penny will drop, there will be lights and sirens and you will know exactly how I feel now. Love Marilyn xxx
If I could find the remedy for sleeping all night it might work. But I have a habit of fully waking up 2 or 3 times during the night then attacking the fridge cupboard or what ever is closest. I will not take sleeping pills.
Michael Phelps self confessed he sleeps a lot during a TV interview and expects to regain sleep after the 2008 Olympics. Is doing what the greatest Olympian ever good for your diet? Isn't what feels right usually right? Doesn't pointers get you started but hands on work get you finished?
