Sticky pork ribs

INGREDIENTS

6 cloves garlic crushed
½ cup kecap manis
½ cup light soy sauce
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup chicken stock
6 star anise
2 kg american-style pork ribs

Garlic rice
2 tablespoons peanut oil
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon salt
2 cups steamed jasmine rice
METHOD

Combine garlic, kecap manis, light soy sauce, brown sugar, stock and anise in a large jug. Pour over ribs in a large shallow baking dish. Marinate for several hours or overnight.

Heat oven at 200°C/180°C (fan forced). Cook ribs for 1-1½ hours, turning ribs over occasionally or until sauce is sticky and ribs are cooked through. Pour off sticky sauce and place into a bowl.

Heat a wok over a high heat. Add oil and heat until smoking, add garlic and cook until golden brown. Stir in salt and rice. Cut ribs into portions and serve with garlic rice and sticky sauce.

just wanted to let you know I rated this dish accidently as 1 star but is worthy of 4 stars I made a dinner party and everyone loved the ribs and the garlic rice, I also added some lightly fried spring onions as pete did and it was lovely
Kecap Manis, sounds a bit like Ketchup manis, can be purchased at most supermarkets and at Asian grocery stores. It is an Indonesian sweet soy sauce and can be used in soups, stews, stir fries and marinades and with meat and fish dishes.
Kecap manis or kejap manis can be found in the supermarket along with the soy sauces etc. It is classed as sweet soy and is much thicker. Much nicer also. Great with dim sims, spring rolls etc.

Kecap manis is just simply translated as sweet soy sauce in Indonesian. It is think in texture
I have never heard of kecap manis !!!!!!!! please advise what it is and where would one purchase it ???????????? Many thanks Terry
This is a very easy receipe and was absolutely delicious.
I reckon this is such a easy recipe to do and it tastes delicious so how about you try it for dinner one night .
