The young royals are famously tightknit and they showed it yesterday, turning out en masse to support Zara Phillips as she competed in the Olympic cross-country event.

Prince William, Catherine, Prince Harry and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie all travelled to Greenwich Park to watch their cousin Zara and her horse High Kingdom ride a punishing course.

Zara seemed to be buoyed by their presence, pulling off a near-flawless round to finish the event in 10th place, putting her within reach of the medals which will be decided after the showjumping phase tonight.

This is Zara's first Olympic Games.
