COMPOST SAVER
Save on compost by lining your hanging baskets with used teabags. They make an excellent lining and retain water very well. M. Pedrana, Largs Bay SA

DOG FOOD RECIPE
Boil vegetable peelings and off-cuts (not onion) from meal preparation. When soft, add rolled oats and mix with your dog’s usual food. K. Woolmer, Chambers Flat, QLD

MOBILE PHONE PROTECTOR While you are fishing, at the beach or in a dusty environment, protect your mobile by sealing it in a small zip-lock plastic bag. V. Sacco, Erina, NSW.

FAN COVER GRIME REMOVER Spray oven cleaner on both sides of grimy exhaust fan covers and leave for 10 minutes or so. Then rinse off under a hot tap – it’s magic!. D. Sewell, Yangebup, WA.

DRYING FRESH FLOWERS To preserve and dry fresh flowers, hang them upside down for about a week, then spray with hairspray – it works as well as any lacquer. R. Stollery, Mount Gambier, SA.

PROTECT YOUR EGGS When we had crows stealing our newly laid eggs, we decorated the henhouse with Christmas baubles and toys. Now we get 12 eggs a day. D. Heinrich, Hines Hill, WA.
