So it shouldn't come as a shock to hear that on the day of Westpac's announcement of its 2008-09 financial results, CEO Gail Kelly basically blamed the federal government for its over-taxing on our savings.

The credit card generation destroying the piggy bank , After reading about a study conducted by St George Bank, I realised my earlier spending habits were not unique. In fact, the study found that almost all of generation Y surveyed had borrowed money informally from friends. That works out to be $2.6 billion changing hands through IOUs by gen Y every year.

A friend of mine was the last of her siblings to move out of her mother's home on the weekend. Sarah's mum, Julie, is now in a big empty house — apart from her golden retriever, Daisy. Sarah knows her mum should downsize to save on costs, but they just don't know where to start.

Recession Wedding , I asked my friend the other day how she was going to spend her $900 tax rebate, thinking she would spend the money on something such as a television or shoes. Instead, she told me a wedding dress, possibly some presents for her flower girls and maybe some money towards the nibbles for her wedding party.
