Sofia Vergara is famous for her curvaceous body, but when she first moved to Los Angeles her publicist told her she needed a breast reduction if she wanted to be taken seriously.

The 39-year-old Modern Family star moved to the US from Colombia and tried to pursue a career in television.

While most aspiring actresses get boob jobs to increase their assets, Sofia was told that she needed to have her DD bust reduced if she wanted to "make it".

"When I moved to America, I was more voluptuous, and I felt a little different," Sofia told the December issue of Health magazine.

"My publicist [at the time] told me, 'I think you should just reduce your boobs because nobody's going to take you seriously here'."

Sofia said she seriously considered having her famous assets altered, but her mother convinced her that it was a terrible idea.

"She was like, 'God is going to punish you! You can't cut your boobs!'" Sofia told the publication. "I don't regret not doing it, because now it's become a big part of my character on Modern Family."
