Kylie Minogue has come a long way from her overall-sporting days of Neighbours, beating media moguls, sports stars and even our Prime Minister in a poll of Australia's most powerful brands.

The survey, conducted by Talent Inc!, asked around 400 people which Australian they thought best developed their brand and their brand awareness.

And the winner, with more than 10 percent of the vote, was Minogue, a celeb whose entertainment, lingerie and perfume ventures have made her and her brand a household name.

"The theory of building a personal brand is a new concept, based on the idea that 'celebrity' goes beyond the realms of talent," said Mark Richardson from Talent Inc! .

"Those with the strongest personal brands have clearly defined them and built them over time to achieve the highest return possible for everything they do."

Coming in second was Elle "The Body" Macpherson who is the face of Invisible Zinc, a Revlon spokesperson and has her own line of lingerie. Elle recently said of her prominent brand exposure, "This capacity to be flexible with business deals and to be financially independent has enabled me to support and grow my own brand to be an iconic and inspirational brand of Australia."

Rounding out the top five were Shane Warne, Dame Edna Everage and Greg Norman.

Your say: Which Australian do you think has best developed their brand? Do you agree with the results?

omg shes not even good looking
..so, as anyone with any business sense knows, the entertainment industry in Oz is a joke....for any of you who want to make any money out of it anyone who wants to make any money MUST go out - hence we keep losing our Aussies.... Boo hoo hoo or Lets be real - part of being an Aussie is to travel, spread our wings, and HEY!!! can we help it if they love us overseas..??? Dont lets become knuckleheads - just because you dont live here - doesn't mean your heart is not here.... We are Aussies!!! Be proud, celebrate and travel with confidence, you lot!!
Kylie is a sweet and sincere woman. I have watched her career from the beginning and she is one of Australia's female icons. She has set good standards for young Aussie women, to never give up on your dreams and aspire to greatness with her glamour and dedication to the Australian Music Industry. She has a wonderful personality, her fight through her cancer shows true strength and courage of the little Aussie battlers all around the world. Australian people show be very proud of her contributions in all her walks in life....Well done Kylie (of Camberwell) Your old penpal Mathew
I'd believe Hugh Jackman before I'd believe the singing budgie. They're kidding about her being the most powerful brand aren't they?? She's good, but not that good. Leave her to the Poms.
I love Kylie and even though she doesnt live here she is still an Aussie and she knows it. But what about the beautiful and bubbly Jennifer? She is such a great role model too I think. Not up herself and continues to stay real - as much as anyone can in that industry.
Kylie now has an ENGLISH accent , heard her speak lately?? that is where she LIVES in London not Australia. Cmon aussies
I do not think Kylie is our most powerful brand! What is wrong with Australians?
Who is Kylie Minogue? Only in Australia and UK does she have any fans. Other countries around the world like the US (A major market) don't know much about Kylie. Vanessa Amorosi, Natalie Imburglia, Delta Goodrem, Gabrielle and even the Veronicas have had more success than Kylie in the US which places them on a world wide scale (Not just Australia and UK). On a world wide sacle, some of Australia's top acts include - John Farnham, INXS, ACDC and Olivia Newton John. AUSTRALIA'S NO. 1 ARTIST IS - TINA ARENA. She sings in four languages other than english and has cracked non english speaking markets. An achievement no other Aussie has achieved. FACT - KYLIE DOES NOT EVEN MAKE THE TOP 10 IN AUSTRALIAN ARTISTS ACHIEVING SUCCESS ON A WORLD WIDE SCALE.
I love Kylie and have watched her career from the early days, good on her for being the most powerful brand. Its all in the marketing and who you have behind you! Shes obviously done something right to be up there for so long.
Kizmett- How ca you say kylie isn't aussie because she doesn't live here and then real off a bunch of other aussies that don't live here that you think better deserve the place in the poll? stupid people say stupid things I guess
