The iconic star's bra sold for more than $6400 at auction to an unidentified bidder from Hong Kong, the US Today show reported.
The bra, known as Fling, had been in a private collection for 50 years and was auctioned by London auction house International Autograph Auctions.
Before the Wonderbra was found in every girl's top drawer, this bustier would have provided the icon with a surgery-free lift and separation.
The placement of the straps gave the illusion that Ms Monroe was not wearing anything at all.
"The bra looks very complicated at first glance and it actually has four cups inside it — sort of like an early Wonderbra," Richard Davie, from International Autograph Auctions, told the UK's Daily Telegraph.
"There's an inner cup which it almost hidden, which would support her chest as normal. But then there's another larger cup about an inch further out, to give the impression she had a bigger chest."
