Our all natural covergirl

The Weekly’s November cover girl, Sarah Murdoch, told us she did not want her photographs digitally retouched. So we didn’t.

Real. Is a word Sarah returns to often. It’s the “real” stories in Pride of Australia that engage her. It’s the realness of the sausage sizzle and the camping trip and the lining up to buy tickets to Up [the children’s movie] with everyone else.

It’s also, admirably, the desire to put a real face forward in the media. Literally. She wants The Weekly to leave her photographs as natural as possible, wrinkles and all.

"I think when I’m retouched in photographs it’s worse, because when people see me in real life, they go, ‘Oh, God! Isn’t she old!' " She’s joking, of course, but all the same, “It makes me mad that we can’t embrace the beauty of ageing, because we’re all going to do it. I’m wondering about these people who are in their 30s – even 20s sometimes – doing all this Botox and work on their faces. What are they going to look like by the time they’re 60 or 70? Where do you stop? It’s a slippery slope. I’m not brave enough to go there.”

Your say: If it was available to you at the time of your wedding, would you have your cherished main photo retouched to enhance your beauty?

I've seen Sarah out with her boys, waiting to see Santa. In a room full of mum's -she was a standout - drop dead gorgeous. Let's bring back more realistic photos, afterall no one is perfect - why do we think celebrities are??
...looks lovely. Women are still fascinating, attractive, sexy, and altogether gorgeous in all different sizes, shapes, and ages. Natural IS REAL. And "real" is what we need more of in the mass media when it comes to people and relationships. Most of the sexiest women that i have ever met have been over 50 with their fair share of wrinkles etc and no cosmetic surgery. Good on you Sarah and congrats to Women's Weekly.
Good on you Sarah finely someone that isnt afraid to show the real you. You are stunning this way. To all Magazines take a leaf out of Sarah's book and do the same, all pictures are not as they should be - natural, let show all the young girls that is it ok to be who they are not what is expected.
In reply to 'Stunner's comments about why more celebrities dont say no to touching up photos - it's because most celebrities aren't as naturally beautiful as Sarah. She is truly an inspiration. She looks fantastic.
Sarah you look absolutely gorgeous. You are gorgeous enough anyway but i would like to see you on the cover with no makeup, morning hair and old clothes. Yes its great that AWW are publishing these pictures but i think its just a big act for publicity. This article is all over nine msn, its bascially just for advertising and nothing more. Many more women are going to buy this magazine now just because they seem to have changed their morals.
We all want to look perfect, but at what price? Botox, trips to the plastic surgeon for a face lift, line fillers. With many of my friends opting for these procedures in their 30's and early 40's, you almost feel like you need to do the same, to keep up appearances. But we should embrace change, including ageing. So what if you have smile lines, so what if you look your age. Sarah, has just proven you can be beautiful and age gracefully. I love the photos! Go girl, you do us proud!
sarah- you look absolutely gorgeous. Good on you for not wanting your pictures enhanced, i guess you are just truly beautiful. Why wont more celebrities say no to touching up photos.
Thank god someone on a cover is real - I can feel more comfortable with my own lines! This is so refreshing - there should be more of it.
