Colour my wardrobe!

Friday, June 20, 2008

Question

When I open my wardrobe all I can see is black, I would love to wear more colour but wouldn't have the faintest where to start! Any suggestions?

Billie via email

Answer

Dear Billie,

This is a common problem for a lot of women, many feel that black is the safest and most flattering colour they can wear, but for many women black can often be a poor choice.

A great way to figure out what colour works best for you is experimentation. This doesn’t mean you have to go out head-to-toe in a block colour, try working some coloured beads, bangles or cardigan to get used to wearing colour, and see what response you get from family, friends and colleagues.

If you wear red and get lots of compliments then maybe buy a top or blouse, make gradual changes otherwise you will be scared off colour altogether. Shoes, handbags and scarves are also a good way to get adjusted to more colour.

Remember to take compliments from others on board, they see you with fresh eyes and can see what looks best on your from a different point of view. You will amazed at the response you will get when you get the right colour for you!
